Little Town, Big Camp! 1940 Paris had 18,678 Citizens, 1944 Camp Maxey peaked at 57,000 soldiers.

This Camp Maxey letter document the total estimate personnel processed through there until May 1944. This was a full year before the end of the war in Europe and at least a month before D-Day June 6, 1944. There were thousands of replacement trainees that passed through here for the next year until the camp was declared surplus after the defeat of Japan in August 1945. Paris at the time was had a population of less than 20,000.
